A New Year Poem by Dominic A. Okoliko

A New Year

Let all hearts break into joy
With gratitude boiling
Beyond containing measure
For the great pleasure
Of witnessing a New Year

Like a sweet soft flowing streams
The year has swept our feet
Washing us with elation
And drawing close our dreams
For greater actualisations

Like mist amidst the greens
Yesteryear has disappeared
Shoved into past bin
And replaced by a new year
So immaculate and clean

Take no rush with your boat
But roll roll roll on gently
Onward and upward go
Doting every node with your tent

But take note, you're not alone
So boast not of the vast rich coast
Instead, learn from the tombstones
Nor are you to fear any ghost
Or the drooping of hailstones

Amidst that too
You can be atop
Floating bright above the blue
Only keep your gears atop

Your will, love, and faith
These trinity gemstones
Of Christmas gift
Shall take you across many milestones

Quite a morale booster typifying a poetic arsenal of diction well articulated. Thanks for arming us with viable tools and ammunition to conquer any foe on our sojourn of 2017. Smith
