A Poem Is A Play In Mood
A poem is a play in mood
A possible position in feeling
An exercise in trying out one's thought
In another direction-
A poem is not the single final statement of all one feels
But only one statement of one possibility one might feel -
A poem is a play in mood
And a game of the mind
And a possibility -
I play these lines down now
As if this statement too were a game
Which means far less and far more
Than its own meaning can seem.
