A POEM IS AN ADVENTURE

A poem is an adventure
A going forth to sea
It may end in disaster
Or newfound liberty-

It may bring revelation
And music deep inside
It may mean more than Memory
As Pain that helps us cry-

Its subject can be anything
And everything and more
Or only its own little self
A self- reflexive bore-

A poem is an adventure
That may go where it can't know
And wind up as another world
A Dream inspiring Hope
