A Refreshing Sight Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

A Refreshing Sight

Rating: 4.5

Early morning rays struggle to illuminate
As I drive around the bend of the street
Faint images linger in the quite chill of the air
A lifting haze motivates thoughts to repeat

At this location my children once attended school
Now nonexistent, the familiar outline is erased
The brick structure was flattened and removed
Faint images are suspended in this vacant space

A flat field filled with short-cropped grass remains
Inviting flocks of Canadian geese that calmly glide
They congregate with their heads bowed reverently
Gathering morsels that nature generously provides

The remarkable sight refreshingly bathes my eyes
Serene beauty and harmony replaces emptiness
Substituting for energetic children with backpacks
Feathered visitors inspire a smile of contentedness

From cherished memories to emptiness to a positive note of calm. A different angle and a delight to read. Love, Fran xx
