A Short Encounter Poem by George Hunter

A Short Encounter

I met this young Miss in Iraq
Who said I know you’ll attack
...Since I aim to please
...Shall I get on my knees
Or would you rather I be on my back?

Even if it’s hard to believe
I’m just a poor soldier on leave.
...No matter what you may think
...I’d just like a drink.
Sometimes life’s a strange web to weave.

And so we took it from there
As I admired her long dark hair
...For she was a cutie
...A real Persian beauty
I’ve never seem skin so fair.

But I had to be on my way
It’s the price that I have to pay.
...I’ve got to be brave
...And the world try to save
But I’ll try to get back some day.
