A Stranger In The Snow Poem by Holly Jamestone

A Stranger In The Snow

A sequined quilt of white blanketed my front lawn
‘Neath a black sapphire sky with a pale, almost frosty moon

Amid the glistening, diamond-like crystals of snow
He stood calmly and quietly

I hadn't seen him around the neighborhood
Nor had I any memory of creating him

I'm not even sure why he picked my yard
But there he was, in full moonlit silhouette

He graced me with his cold, marshmallow-white presence
His eyes made of onyx rather than coal

His attire was his message, as he wore a purple stocking hat
To show support for all orientation

His nose was not an ordinary button but appeared
To be lovingly clipped to his face

Its color was environmental green
And it sported a one-word message: PEACE

There was no corncob pipe, just black licorice neatly
Intertwined with brown, white, red and yellow

He stood majestically and calmly, sporting a smart
Rainbow-colored scarf draped around his neck

He looked at me and I at him, there in the stillness
Our souls bathed in moonlight

His message felt comforting though he'd melt after
New Year's, leaving only white remnants behind

What would always remain was his quiet demeanor
Elegant presence, and dignified hope for mankind

To give our all, to be our best, as together we create
Peace On Earth through Equality for ALL
