Above Sixty..Part One Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Above Sixty..Part One

Rating: 5.0

Not all people can face it bravely
But some do it exceptionally
Utilize time for own happiness
And bring joy for all on faces

World is not limited to youngsters alone
Lot more is to be done on wider screen
World has become so small and come quite near
I find nothing wrong if you see it without fear

Why age should bother it at all?
Lot many troubled people are around to call
Same interest but having no solution
How to ask and where to ask is only confusion

If you literary person then heaven is on flank
Your water can flow on both the banks
You can love any one you like at ease
You have lot more to explain and release

I find lovely flowers of different colors
They all bear smiles and accord honor
Not for being aged or time pass figure
But certain clues to be used for future

I find brightness in their eyes and wonder
What are all things they are missing in lightening thunder?
There are enough of opportunities and sky is the limit
I feel lack of warmth and frankness to greet

I find all of them longing for peace
Little words of appreciation and praise
This takes them to new height
To think elaborately and right

So nothing to worry about growing of an age
Person can well think of it and manage
World has come to our door and opened
Only you gear up and have brain little sharpened

You try to sell your vintage wagon
Present old rifle for Kalashnikov AK-47 as deadly weapon
You may know meaning of satire and jokes
That may bring smile on face with masterly stroke

Better late than never, be assumed A youth at sixty in self, be found.

Struggle for existance had taken a toll Of adolescence and youth I recall. Without notice they came and gone Before ushering in life they were bygone.... Too late it was when it dawned That I dwelt in tiny pond, Rejecting the omnipotence of youth In my meager know how the truth. Better late than never I assumed A youth at sixty in me I have found.

RAJ NANDY I can closely relate to this poem since I am nearing seventy! You are right, as 'literary persons', with fondness for acquiring knowledge and expression, there is hardly anytime for thinking about age! Thanks, -Raj

What an excellent sequel to yesterday's 'Above Sixty' poem, Mehtaji! This poem has so much positivity and lessons of living to learn! I especially liked the following lines:  So nothing to worry about growing of an age Person can well think of it and manage World has come to our door and opened Only you gear up and have brain little sharpened  Thanks for sharing. Respects. Padmaja Iyengar, Secunderabad, A P, India Sep 25,2012
