Adventures Of Isabel Part 1: Ogden Nash

Isabel met an enormous bear
Isabel, Isabel didn't care.
The bear was hungry, the bear was ravenous,
The bear's big mouth was cruel and cavernous.

The bear said, Isabel glad to meet you
How do Isabel, now I'll eat you!
Isabel, Isabel didn't worry
Isabel didn't scream or scurry.
She washed her hands and she straightened her hair up,
Then Isabel quietly ate the bear up.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Ogden Nash [1902-71] was famous for ad hoc scanning rhymes, which were and remain very amusing especially as in his ‘Adventures of Isabel' from which this selection is take. He was every bit as naughty as Roald Dhal. I shall be puting the lot to music. It is found in his Parents Keep Out, of 1951, labelled as it was‘elderly poems for youngerly readers'.
My granddaughter Isabel inspired this song version, so I hope some other young ones enjoy it.
