African American? Poem by Dave Cole

African American?

Why African?

Why American?

Who am I?

An African without Africa,

Or an American who America treats Un-American:

Or rather a victim of a long history of Transatlantic Slave Trade,
violence, segregation, discrimination, poverty, and more...

So, who am I?

I'm not African nor am I American- and much less African American!

You are an American regardless of America's racism. Claim your birthright!
