African Emancipation Day Poem by Matt Starking

African Emancipation Day

A nation of red, yellow, and green
A symbol of freedom, a symbol of truth.

It's a day of celebration, a day of pride,
For the country we love, for which we abide.

The flag waves high, the anthem is sung,
A day of remembrance of what we've become.

Our history, our strength, our courage and will,
The courage to stand, the courage to fight.

Today we remember, today we rejoice,
For the freedom we have, for the choices we make.

So let us remember, let us salute,
Our independence, our freedom, our truth.
