After It's Over (Will There Be Another Dance?) Poem by Joe Fraccalvieri

After It's Over (Will There Be Another Dance?)

After it's over, and we've said our goodbyes…
After we've shed our tears and covered our cries…
Will we remember these years
with our eyes staring down,
then looking up from the ground toward the skies…
Will there be silence, except for the sound of our sighs--
when truth is uncovered, and discovered are lies

After it's over, and we've said our goodbyes…
Will the answers that once dwelled
in dark alibies, surface to be held
like a Jack-in- the-Box that's sprung with surprise

After it's over, and we've said our goodbyes…
After we've had our last hug…
When every tear finally dries…
My shoulders shrug
as every memory dies
Your smile becomes smug…
as questions arise

Though my heart has been broken
will my feelings, when spoken,
be taken as wise?
How many more chances-- and how many tries?
So many romances… Life's journey enhances

Oh my, how time flies!
