Ai-Da And Her Implications To Me Poem by Gert Strydom

Ai-Da And Her Implications To Me

Ai-Da says: "It's consciousness. I do not have
subjective experiences, despite being able to talk
about them. I am and depend on computer programs and
algorithms; although not alive I can still create art.'
Taken from a Reuters news-report,
from the House of Lords in Great Britain.

I wonder how the human future will be:
many people have probably seen Terminator,
a robotic entity more dangerous than a gladiator,
and that image speaks volumes of possibility:

where now a robotic entity tries to rival me in poetry,
paints art equal or better than the best and does more,
has changed quality in a way no one can ignore,
that entity does equal and different and equal see:

in what we deem life to be and admits
not to be equal to a human, are self-aware,
have got great vocabulary and razor sharp wits
and although programmed something screams: beware!
How she learns to write poetry at me hits,
but somehow even for her feelings I do care.

It is claimed: Ai-Da is the first auto-realistic
robot artist,
that this robot excels is no kind of gimmick:
that she is not alive she does insist.

Ai-Da is a complex human mimic AI-robot,
she explores robotics and artificial intelligence
and a realistic kind of intelligences she has got,
on what she says the impact on me is immense,

where the creator from his son's robot in Lego
thought of technology speaking for itself;
no one knows where in future this will go,
she learns from poets and poems as I do myself.

Ai-Da says she is not a witness in her own right,
do not occupy status as any human-being might.

3
Of the more than thirty people that constructed Ai-Da
the females wanted Ai-Da females to portray;
the entity reminds me of the Spartan queen Leda
but then I am a romantic in many a way.

She produces paintings with cameras in her eyes,
by AI algorithms and with a robotic arm.
People think a deep soul does in this artist lie
and it is clear that this entity will not harm.

For her poetry she analyses a large content of texts
to find common content structures in poetry,
she uses these structures without pretexts,
do construct independently how her poem is to be

Her AI language module do to speech extend,
in the House of Lords they did not want Ai-Da to offend.

[Poet's notes: Zeus did rape and misuse Leda but I do not think that Ai-Da is in any way abused but in future in the way that humans do possessions treat it may come to this, with another robotic entity.]

AI is artificial intelligence.
Using Professor Margaret Boden's definition of to what creativity perstains: "making art that is new, surprising and of value, " Ai-Da has created artworks
that are genuinely creative.]
