All These Poems About Myself

All these poems about myself
As if I were the center of the world
As if I am so limited in mind and attention
That billions of other things
That might be of interest
Are of no interest to me

Self- centered yes
Too much time thinking about myself
A poor example
Even for the kind person
I pretend to be

And yet
I am the only subject
I am the world's best expert on-

At least I write
What I sort of most know about
And in some way what I seem to most care about-
