Alone Poem by Ian Rocky

Alone

Standing alone
On the bank in the mist
Thinking of chances in life,
I have missed

I feel my feet getting cold
But nothing in my heart
As I step into the water
And prepare to depart

Oblivious to the noise
Of the near by street
Plucking up courage
But can’t move my feet

I’m weighed down with guilt
That I left with no word
Guilt that I love you
Tho that sounds absurd

When I think of the betrayal
The lies and deceit,
Can I ever forgive one who
Found it so easy to cheat

Sad that I miss you
Sad when I discover
That you left me so quick
To the arms of another

I feel devastation
Cheated upon
Ashamed to the point
Where my life can’t go on

Blue when I want you
Blue when I dream
Blue is the colour
Of the fast rushing stream

Cold is my heart,
Cold is my head
As I plunge into the water
I wish I was dead

Floating on dreams
As they rush through my head,
Floating face down
Soon to be dead

You tugged at my heart strings,
You Tugged at my soul,
I’m Pulled out of the water
Half conscious and cold

Hazy my view
Of the face of my saviour
Hazy my memories
Of your strange behaviour

Recoiling at the horror
Of betrayal and lies,
Wishing id been left
In the water to die
