Save The Planet Poem by Ian Rocky

Save The Planet

Rating: 5.0

Looking out of the window
at 35000 feet
Makes me realise how vast
is the world at my feet

When I run for 10 miles
I am not moving at all
Round the globe that we love
that was perfect and whole.

As humans we skim
the surface of the earth
But disfigure it so
for what we class as worth

Can we class ours
the most successful species?
Use the sea as a toilet
for dumping our faeces

Greed and corruption
Fighting and wars
What will be left
in five hundreds years?

When the oil has gone
And the rivers run dry
The earth to hot
So all the plants will all die

Animals gone forever
The food chain destroyed
Millions of years in the making
Gone in decades

The writing is clear
for all to see
It’s our responsibility
that’s you and me

Don’t pass the buck
Get up make a stand
Protect our earth
and this beautiful land

Save the creatures we’re killing
save the rainforest too
Stop global warming
close down the zoos

Stop over population
Stop fighting and wars
Politicians conscience
Is lacking if at all

Share food equally
to those round the globe
Stop poverty and hunger
Suffering and cold

The clock is ticking
time is running out
its time to make a noise
stand up and shout

Say it with pride
with feeling and emotion
stop destroying the earth
and the beautiful ocean
