Alone Poem by Jamaica Alston

Alone

To what do i owe this visit
A friend named Alone
I tend to call him Blackness
I call him that because
he looks that way.
Around everyone I tend
fade to the Blackness.

He is a friend I wouldn't take
out in public. He makes me
feel awkward all the time.

I scream at him to go
away, but he just doesn't.

Then as I look around
and realize who and
where I am; He's right.
No one wants me, No
one even cares.

I don't like Alone; he
is always right.
I will be alone for the rest of my life.
