My Confession Poem by Jamaica Alston

My Confession

I cry because I'm frustrated
And I cry because no one understands
I cry because I'm oppressed
And I cry because I'm tired
Tired of the judging eyes
And tired of this pain.
This pain that holds me down,
weakening my spirit with every blow.

Tearing me down, down, down
'till I am nothing.
I am numb because I don't
want to feel anymore
And I'm numb because the same
things keep happening; over and over again.
Numb to this pain that holds me down.
That's weakening my spirit with every blow.

You must fight back, with love and kindness, to those who would treat you differently! A beautiful poem, very emotional.
