America Poem by Richard Netherland Cook

America

America

Founding fathers,
History made,
For this great country,
Foundation laid,
Great and small.
Freedom blessed,
Battles were fought,
Death, no less,
Brave men fell,
That we could be,
A mighty nation,
Peacful and free.
But we the people,
Silent be,
Heed no cry,
Although we see,
A great land torn,
Filled with hate,
God grant to us,
If not too late,
A blessing to heal,
The wounds we see,
And be once again,
America free.
