America Love It Or Leave It Poem by Juan Olivarez

America Love It Or Leave It

Love it or leave it they used to say,
When I was young so long ago.
If it's so bad here, you need not stay,
Go back where you came from, go, go, go.

And then some people have the nerve,
To wave their own flag in our face,
So my true disdain they do deserve,
Try that stuff in your own place.

Did brains suddenly go out of style,
what is America coming to?
We hurt ourselves and protect the vile,
Elected people just have no clue.

Try sneaking in to Mexico,
You will be robbed, beaten, and raped,
And not by bandits, oh, no, no, no,
By the police who are on the take.

Human rights give me a break,
America has always stood alone,
Mexico does not give, it only takes,
So President Calderon, stop all the moans.

You have the nerve to lecture us,
About our laws which you abhor.
Stop printing maps, and breaking our laws,
Stop sneaking in through the back door.

Nobody is rushing to Mexico,
It's here that people want to come,
Stop stealing from the wretched poor,
Be a man get your own work done.

Everybody is welcome here,
But do it right, play by the rules.
Lets all stop the politics of fear,
Cause the House and the Senate, are a pack of fools.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

I am so pleased with this poem, should be required reading for all people. You tell it like it is Juan and elected officials are just as crooked as you say, of course along with the President and his criminals. Thanks for an excellent write. Your friend Lynn.
