America - The Promised Land Poem by Darwin Henry Beuning

America - The Promised Land

Rating: 5.0

From south of the border
So many come -
Families crossing the Rio Grande
With hopes and dreams of a better life.

Many arrested and detained
Families suddenly torn apart.
Children taken from their parents
To whom they cling.

Tears and cries
Of no avail.
Welcome to America,
Land of hurt and pain.

It is not good to separate children from parents-obviously. Are you referring specifically to Trump building a wall across the US-Mexico border?

Michael, No, I was not referring to the Wall, But, something must be done. They come with out stretched hands wanting a better life for themselves and family, but, what they receive is Death.

Separating children from their families is the worst thing we could have done! How traumatic that must be for parents and children alike! Whose bright idea was that, anyway? Great poem, Hank!
