American Dream Lingers Poem by Wojja Fink

American Dream Lingers

Rating: 5.0

I forgot about Wyoming
Its name it sound so fine
I’d listen to the crickets and join in with a rhyme
The mountains and the rivers the names play rhythms in my ears
Abandon all your thoughts forget about your fears
The names they just keep rolling like the Oklahoma songs
And of course there is Ohio where Sugar Creek belongs
I’ve just seen that old oak tree on Google mother earth
From the film about redemption, painting more than words are worth *
Kentucky in the sunshine Virginia in the rains
And what about Wisconsin are there Bison on those plains?
Nevada Arizona where did you get those skies
Full of wild blue yonder that opens inner eyes
The names they just keep tumbling from a poet lost in praise
For I stumbled on a poem that lights the darkest days
Can you play the rain? now it’s pouring in my heart
Space really is no distance when the world seems worlds apart
I may have never been there, perhaps I never will
But isn’t it all one, when the moving mind is still?

Yo Wojja, I can't imagine YOUR mind being still for a second..so don't even try. If you do, then you'd become a philosopher, and I'd find you impossible to talk to. (Hang on, you're still young...so give this more time!) . I thinkin of contacting them cowpokes crawlin around them wide open fields to git in touch with ya...you'd make an excellent guide/tourist operator/advisor..for them simple folks. Honest to gawd! Jeez! Mebbe if you're fast at the draw with those irons (six-guns) of yours, you'd make an expert hired hand at protectin them purty gurls from the Lazarus brothers, who are a-comin to town day after tomorow for a shoot out. The sheriff just quit yesterday, so there's a vacancy for yer, son.. And thanks for the entertainment...Woweeeeeeeeeeee! ! ! ! Now git on the hoss and light outta this town! ! Cheers. Subroto

Wondrful poem. 'Space seems to be not a distance, only seperated by words' Great thought, great concept.

Kamranbhai, Renee Descartes: 'I think, therefore I am...' Obviously there seems to be some connotative confusion here. (same word will have same meaning in dictionary = denotative, whereas connotative is different meaning for the SAME word, which in this case is 'philosopher') . So we differ. Just like those five fingers of the hand, as unique as we are, etc. Spontaneity does not a stomach fill, nor mere words...in these harsh times. Wojja, I warned you about being the philosopher...now look what you've done! Keep travelling, traveller.. Cheers. Subroto

'Space really is no distance when the world seems worlds apart' I loved this piece, as it is written flawlessly straight from the heart and soul of a dreamer. And with due apology; I don't agree to Mr. Chatterjee, as a true poet is always a philosopher by default. He/she thinks without much conscious intervention and he/she writes without any fears and constraints. There are so many coulours and profound thoughts in this piece and some wonderful lines like one I mentioned above snd couple follows... 'The names they just keep tumbling from a poet lost in praise' and I may have never been there, perhaps I never will But isn’t it all one, when the moving mind is still? Wonderful... Thank you Regards, Kamran
