An Empty Bottle Poem by Christina Ramirez

An Empty Bottle

Such and eerie silence that creeps quickly over me
My eyes are blank and my mind is slowly going down
My life is drowning constantly and no one is there to save me, but me
But how can someone drowning save themselves?
With their heads barely above water and their lungs short of breath
But continuely the laughs seem to show through
Making my drowning invisible
I can taste the liquid of death filling my mouth where only air used to occupy
My eyes are drooping and unconsciousness is starting to complete me
Until finally my heart beats with the rhythm of the empty bottle
