An Unlikely Friend Poem by Walterrean Salley

An Unlikely Friend

Rating: 5.0

Ole sickness is a malady
That is so foreign to mankind.
It affects the physical body
As well the spirit and the mind.

Ah, sickness is hardly a friend
If one would ever think it so.
Just examine the agenda
Of such an enemy and foe.

Note its history among us
Has ne’er been nice, or nowhere good.
It would rob of every comfort—
E’en every breath of life it could.

That’s why we fight hard every day
To keep ole sickness far away.

Very true Walterrean, no-one wants sickness to visit. Great sonnet.
