And...They're Off! Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

And...They're Off!

And...
Again.
Ladies and gentlemen.
They're off.
To new places and faces of races.
Time wasted to offend.
With no finish line that ends.
A lack of insight.
That could broaden their enlightenment.
But it seems as the Sun rises.
This missed opportunity,
For them will not soon begin.

And...
Again.
Ladies and gentlemen.
They're off.
With nonstop hypocrisy.
Rushing around every bend to defend,
A pretentiousness of Christianity.
To build more fences.
Demonstrating senseless nonsense.

And...
Again.
Ladies and gentlemen.
Accusations heard,
Are spewed back and forth.
Beating dead horses they can not divorce,
From their minds or the times...
They blame to claim on others to defame.
Doing what they have been taught to do.
Create and initiate,
More enemies to pursue.
Hoping to find what it is,
In God's reality they reject.
They can not accept,
To live peacefully amongst themselves.

And...
Again.
Ladies and gentlemen.
They are off.
In pursuit to find what it is,
They can not seem to find.
In their own minds to define,
What it is they seek...
That will make them too,
Feel as complete.
As those they wish to defeat.
In places where faces,
Of different races...
Are not like their own to despise.
With such hate.

And...
They are off.
Again.
Ladies and gentlemen.
Off to find what it is that blinds,
Their minds.
Keeping them to feel threatened,
By delusions they inflict...
Upon their own existence.
Limited to fear and self serving anguish!
