Another Note To Shartez Poem by Leonard Dantzler

Another Note To Shartez

Although the moon has beckoned night,
I lie awake with thoughts aplenty of the one who holds my heart so tight
Every thought is uncontrolled and yet I will it so
I like this feeling that leaves me in a wonder and a daze
Shartez is Heart
That will not soon change
For as the sun will raise, I will again seek those eyes
That draw me closer to my own heaven and a lift my soles up off the ground
Her eyes the color of almandine or pyrope (both Garnet gems)
Skin is chocolate and her lips are just as sweet
Lips that I've tasted and still I feel a glutton because all I want is to taste them again

I had a dream that time was generous
and it willed you and I more
but dreams are only dreams and yet I still wish it were true
But I will pray for a further date of departure from you

*Garnet is believed to be a calming stone with healing properties especially for those with problems of the heart. Worn at night it has been believed to ease sleep and prevent nightmares.* As she does for me, for if my mind is on her how can nightmares seep in.
