Palace Of Solace Poem by Leonard Dantzler

Palace Of Solace

And they say we, the Broken, sing in monotone
And they are some how tone deaf to our cries
Hello Alone, I tried to leave you but you stalked me
You knew I'd be back
Worse for wear, torn even more, w/ my faith shaken still more
Buried in despair, suffocation would be gladly accepted
But air shines in like light to the skin for the lungs
Tears hide in these drooping eyes
I welcome sleep and am prepared for the nightmares
Shielded hearts get wounded worse
I can't remember who swung first
I bleed out w/o bleeding at all
My heart was born to fit the fashion of failure
But it still hurts every time I fall
The emotional savior, Superman even, to those whose hearts beat with the same disease of dis ease
I did what they did not, and that is the problem
So young to know heartbreak as a neighbor
Snapped Bear traps with my heart snagged
Clawed away from Love
Why is it so easy to hate love? or Love Hate?
I crash w/o hitting walls
This sinner was bouldered before stoned
Old frosting on a freshly baked cake
Sick to your stomach yet?
The poison they sip stops what started to boil
But it is still there and her face is the fire
Empathy doesn't empathize on the pieces of this heart
Soldier of the Down, King of the Fallen
This is my Kingdom Ill seen, but is it where I belong?
With hidden tears from a bowed head, she whispers, 'Yes'
So this is my Rule, my Home, my Palace of Solace and this place is your heart.
