Ape Poem by Jim Boone

Ape

Little Jimmy, BIG Kong and
MIGHTY Joe Young: Protection.

When I didn't ‘see' them on the
Big screen, I felt their watchfulness
In my play, when hiding or being
Handed about. Knowing: I would
Live longer than choice would avow
Twixt womb and skyscape. (Boone word)

Great apes! My tormentors, suitors
And uncertain acquaintances must
Have felt a powerful push to
Step back and move on, while I
Lived and wrote about a life
That most would never know.

There were beautiful creatures
And frightening mentality that
Could rend an able physicality
In lockup and treated without cure.

I worry too much about who will
Have my writing when I Am gone.
I must try to keep my anger off
The street: "Dear Lord, please
Put Your arm around my shoulder
And Your hand over my mouth".

After a mindless/caring tirade,
It dawned on me that with more
Longevity than wanted, there
Is a good ape/bad ape soul
That needs my attention
Before and after transition. 2014

Note: If you have anger issues and see
'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, ' you
will feel a healing. JB
