It's Friday And Sunday's Coming Poem by Jim Boone

It's Friday And Sunday's Coming

We’ve made it through four days of study
And work, survival and labor - ‘Well? ’
Looking forward to party time and letting
It all hang out; rockin out with our cocks out
‘Get down! ’ Poppin’ it to some chicks or
Giving it to some dude, maybe selling it –
‘Get up! ’ Golf time, getting away; shopping
Time and charging ahead - ‘Uh-huh ’ -
Breathing time, two days all your own or
With family; two days to focus and relax or
Two more days to survive: It’s Friday and
Sunday’s coming. ‘Keep going ’

Will you spend time with one who loves you
Or leave them alone? ‘Well? ’ Are you
Prepared to reach out and make a difference,
Or reach down and make out? ‘Yeah ‘ - ‘Well? ’

From breakfast at your favorite restaurant
Or scraping the bottom of the barrel,
Scanning the paper and those around you,
Or looking for someone who cares -
‘Keep going ‘

To the malls, marts, stores and shops
Theaters, courses, lakes, beaches
Or corners of despair
Front room TV or back room relativity
Church time on a follower’s pew
Or quiet time with the God of your understanding
At the beginning or end of each day - ‘Yeah? ’
It’s Friday and Sunday’s coming. ‘Amen.’ Amen!
