Apologies Again And Again Poem by Jayson Howard

Apologies Again And Again

Its half past three, and he’s still on his knees.
She left him there.
She made no demands, she said she had other plans,
like she didn’t care.
You can see now, he’s just breaking down.

The night was quiet, he was still in love,
no rain poured on him then.
He knew she’d been crying, he didn’t call her bluff,
a storm was heading in.

She called him the night before.
She didn’t say she wanted more.
So what’s going on?
What has he done?

She wrote him a letter, an apology.
He read it again and again, but couldn’t see,
the story between the lines.
She said she had troubles at home,
and that she wanted to be alone.
Such a clever disguise…

Days pass, her door was still locked,
no one’s seen her at all.
The sirens ring out loud, her family is crying now.
He’s crying now…

And the night was so quiet, and he was still in love,
And he knew she’d been crying, but he didn’t call her bluff.
She took so many of them, why did she?
Why’d she leave him there on his knees?
She said she had troubles at home,
that she wanted to be alone.
