Apology Poem by Travis Snell

Apology

We were done and I was thirsty
So she made a drink and then,
By the time she gave it to me,
I knew the poison was within.
The smirk she wore was empty.
Her dress, loose on her skin.
She whispered my name softly.
It made me remember when
She, that lady of the night,
Kissed me so tender
As the moon shone so bright
On her body, so slender
That in the morning light
I couldn't bear to send her
For fear someone else might
See her, and wish to rent her.
So kept her here, I did.
Her toll, I refused to pay.
Some might think it morbid,
But I say, 'What the hey.'
Her air, though, soon grew rancid.
If asked, she wouldn't say,
She always kept it hid,
But her loathing grew day by day.
She'd intend to kill me
Not wait 'til I grew old.
The moment, now, was with me,
And the toxic drink I hold.
The choice was clear within me,
So, listen now, behold.
For every ounce she hated me
I hate myself tenfold.
So, I did drink the drink and die.
It killed me painfully.
She smiled and stared at me as I,
Sat there, dying slowly.
I saw she had the urge to fly
And get away from me,
But she sat there and watched me die
Close as I could to righteously
