As A Human To A Human Poem by Gert Strydom

As A Human To A Human

You say I am yours through prayer,
my soul draws your words in to the depth of it,
I think that you have got lovely principles,
that you were destined from the beginning.
As a human to a human I come to you
where you do put our marriage on hold
and I want to know how you do view love:
does it stop for you for a time?
Am I something that you use, as you do want it:
like a packet of chips or a soft drink from a tin,
or clothes sorted by colour in your wardrobe,
a picture that plays when you press a button?
Oh Lord, let my wife come to her senses,
or bring the real honest truth to me.
