As Clear As Birds Chirp Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

As Clear As Birds Chirp

Words to hear,
As clear as birds...
Are heard to chirp.
No longer needs,
That picture to paint it.
Coming out of the mouth,
Of one who sits...
In a leadership position.
Saying not once.
But over again and again,
Denying to defend...
A narcissistic self indulging ego.
That a devastation faced,
Created to take place.
Had nothing to do,
With him being the architect of it!
To dismiss his own involvement.

And the people hear this,
Roaring to cheer with thunderous applause.
Supporting and endorsing,
This public admission.
To hear it heard.
Not stunned.
But left to leave...
Feeling adulation.
Freezing in cold weather.
Awed, thrilled and pleased.

"He actually said,
Very direct and factual.
That he would rather be somewhere else.
And not a word did he say,
About our suffering, anguish and pain."

-I know.
And that is why we love him so.
Hip-hip-hooray!
Four more years.-

"FOUR MORE YEARS! "
