Linda Racaniello (1966 / florida)
As Love Dies
My world was spiraling out of control
and the everlasting quiet terrified me
the colors of my life were turning gray
I wasn't sure I could handle being this free
The loss of your love engulfed me
I knew the journey I was on had turned sour
the life as I had known was disappearing
Inch by inch, line by line, hour by hour
My suspicious mind was speaking in rhyme
my torn and confused mind now lay in decline
and that blood flowed through my veins
felt like it was laced with arsenic and strychnine
Left to my own misery
Caused by my left-over desire for you
I felt my heart sputtering, as if freezing
It was then that I knew...
That now all my dreams lie dying
And through the agony - my mind erased
Everything in my life had ended badly
I couldn’t find in me to save face
So instead I took the easy way out
Given up the battle, and shot the gun
The demons of hell had taken over
And the devil himself had won
