Assessments Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Assessments

Seldom and not often,
Does it pay to evaluate...
The presence of anyone.
Based upon an impression,
To assume it to be impeccably made,
With an intention to be accepted.
Instead of an inspection to make.

There are many who perceive,
Their approval is sought.
Along with a giving,
Of their 'judgement to pass it' acceptance.
Only to discover,
The effort endeavored had been appreciated.
Although left no one impressed to express it.

"So...
How did you feel about the assessment? "

-Mine to give?
Or theirs to take? -

"I had not thought of it that way."

-No one should travel,
Down a one-way street.-
