Baroque Obama

BAROQUE OBAMA

If Obama is baroque,
who, except for John and Yoko,
is appropriate for folk
who follow heroes who’re rococco?
W., of course, is square,
and John McCain has hit the ground,
rejected by those who don’t share
the views of men whose heads are round.
You should know I am classical,
like wonderbread and Levi’s rye;
my wife lives in a fascicle
of poems, some which make her cry,
and in my bed she reads my mind
like poems that I write, baroque
the style she thinks that she can find
in them, because she always sees the joke.

Rich Caparella said on KUSC today that Baroque Obama t-shirts sold like hotcakes at the Olympic Trials and Oregon Bach Festival in Eugene earlier this summer.
