Beauty In The Night Poem by Juan Olivarez

Beauty In The Night

Sitting round a campfire,
In the middle of nowhere.
Where the high desert gets higher,
Gazing off towards Big Bear.

Purple and red against the sky,
Coyotes start howling away.
Twilight at long last is nye,
It's the end of another day.

Cottontails scurry about,
And the ravens cease to fly.
The snakes and reptiles are now out,
As more coyotes start to cry.

So much beauty all around,
So much beauty in the night.
Laying on the sandy ground,
Taking in the waning light.
