Because, Because, Because Poem by Mark Heathcote

Because, Because, Because

Don't judge me to be compassionate
Because I have a cache of pain in my heart
Don't say I have emotional intelligence-
Because I can't put you out of my mind
Don't attribute me any good qualities
Because I don't recognise any
Don't-put-me-on a pedestal
Because I am afraid I-might-just fall.

Don't say I am an angel
Because the devil inside me will come to call
Don't say I'm a problem solver either
Because I just want to unzip your dress
Don't say I have good self-awareness-
Because I can't live without you at my address
And don't say I have awesome-patience
Because all I want to do is kiss you.
