Beep Beep Beep
Beep Beep Beep...
These were the sounds
Upon waking...
Tubes everywhere
My God she was intubated!
What had happened?
She couldn't talk
She tried to get
Someone's attention
With her hands
No use
She tried screaming...
Get me out of here
I'm back! ! !
No sound came yet
But her mind
Was ticking over
Beep Beep Beep

My grandfather had a triple bypass surgery a decade ago, I never saw what he looked like, but I can only imagine it to be as frightening as you write about it here. Last lines bring back memories
Arguably one of the most frigtening experiences one can experience upon either waking from cardio-thoracic surgery or, worse...Coma....! I have 1st hand experience with the former...so I can appreciate this work, perhaps even more than the norm...You have depicted the event & consequence/reaction, as well as that haunting echoes sound, oh so well, young lady! Mucho Kudos to you, Harriet...~FjR~
