Belonging Poem by Danny The Dreamer Boyd

Belonging

Rating: 3.8

I've come to like your rosy lips,
The golden texture of your hair,
The smoothness of your fingertips,
The wild and captivating stare.

I've come to like your restless breath
Replacing air within my lungs;
Addictive and procuring death:
If broke our intertwining tongues.

I've come to like when we're so close,
So warm, it melts my frozen heart;
How sweet, yet transient embrace,
How horrid aftermath, apart!

I've come to like how we're alike,
Or maybe that we're one, the same;
That we're alike, I've come to love!
But love like ours ends up aflame…

I've come to hate that you're like me,
We're just like rain; belong to none,
Perhaps I should just let you be,
Or burn, my never-setting sun!
