I hate that hatred killed her,
a disagreement and a vote,
... should have been enough.
The instant blame was all they needed,
to place it at a door somewhere,
and all the facts be damned.
Nobody seems to understand,
how volatile the situation,
and more than that,
nobody seems to care.
This could have all been planned,
by the ' puppet - master ' haters,
who have been known to live,
to prove that death is...
the only thing you should believe in,
I hate that hatred killed her,
all she wanted was a peace,
to stand for those who can't themselves,
so they may rise from underneath.
She knew each day, today was coming,
and held her head up proud,
not many in this human race,
will ever speak that loud.
I know the question echoes,
and then the echoes ask again,
... who hates enough and why? ,
and how much is enough pain?

Hate kills and most often the victims are the most noble and valuable among us. Your poem brings this tragic fact into focus. Thanks.
I hate that hatred killed her too Barry. I was shocked when I heard the news. You are right about few people speaking as loudly. That woman had charisma! Nicely done my friend! Thanks! Hugs, Dee
A beautiful tribute and a poignant political statement. Good work Barry.
The refrain ' I hate that hatred killed her' is very potent (Yet with regret I remember having heard her refrain on tv: 'goli chalao... goli chalao' (fire bullets..) while addressing an anti india gathering)

You said a mouthful when you said ' not many in this human race will ever speak that loud'. We can all be armchair politicians, but those who actually take a stand and risk their lives that others will know peace and a better life, are the heroes of this world. And they end up dying before they are able to make that difference. What a senseless act. I don't believe in capitol punishment, but in cases like this, if you take a life, then you don't deserve to keep yours. Where is the justice? Food for thought, Barry - superbly presented. Linda
