Beside A Lake In The Forest Deep Poem by Christopher Teale

Beside A Lake In The Forest Deep

Rating: 3.0

Beside a lake in the forest deep
Stands a lonely, stone keep
Sealed by thick wooden doors
Surrounded by tall granite walls

Up in the highest tower
Upon a window, sighs a flower
Her red lips are full of sadness
Her lonely heart, devoid of gladness

Her green eyes are far away memories
Of angels and lovely melodies
Her red hair is the rising sun
The autumn, beautiful but glum

Where she to find a happy moment
An end to her terrible torment
That is not an active hurting
But the absence of all loving

For that moment I would give my life gladly
To steal a smile from she who lives so sadly
Where I to find that lonely keep
Ill break the water’s stillness
To land a kiss upon her lip.
