I can only dream of you
Dream of your memory
Live of your thought
Singing a melody
About our love
Your eyes were like stars
Giving of beloved light
That shone upon my heart
Yet they glow so high
They seem so far
Oh! you passed so quick!
Like the wind in the trees!
Like a second gone by.
Like the waves of the seas!
Like all things that die.
And I lost you
I lost your eyes
I lost your smile
I lost your laughter
I lost your love
I lost all of you!
Now I only have the echoes
Of a story that never was
Now I only know words
Of an unspoken poem
Now there is only longing
longing…
