Betrayal Poem by Vikram Basu

What I thought & what came out!
Million hopes got shattered now.
Heart hesitating to beat today
This blow is unbearable all the way.


All relations are broken up today.
Where did those memories go away?
As if, they got far by themselves
Only the empty pages of diary remains.


What could be called, lest betrayal?
As if seeing nightmares all day-night.
Still can't make out the reason -
For which had to get betrayed.


Whom I helped in their distress -
Always provided them rigid support.
It is they who broke my trust today
Tore apart the string of bonding & love!


Still hesitate to call them fiends.
So much was our relation's depth!
Hence, won't walk on the path of revenge.
I leave you at Lord's court.


Later you'll understand, what you did
Repenting won't do you any ease.
O Lord! I appeal for true judgement.
I take a dim view, on their deed.
