Black Smoke Poem by Brittany Perez

Black Smoke

The black smoke engulfs your body
Once, twice, maybe three times a day
I kept it a secret
But I will no longer
You cough as your lungs turn black
Your body trembles and shakes much
Mother must know of this
Father would not approve
Now your insides have been rotted
But there is no reversing now
Stop before it’s too late
Too late to save your breath
Your teeth are stained yellow brown
Your breath has a permanent stink
Eyes of those always high
The redness never fades
