I Want To Run

I'm not controlling it.
It's the voice in my head
You told me I was good enough
But I listened to the voice instead

It's cold in this shadow of doubt
that's overcome me
I have to follow the sound
Or I might go crazy

I want to turn and run to you
I want your warm embrace
I want to say I'll come back soon
And that I'll be okay.

Come wake me from this nightmare
That somehow I got into
Come save me from this horrid place
please - come to my rescue

The ground breaks underneath me
I fall fast
but I can't scream
and then...

I break.

Finally I'm running back
I hug you - I won't let go.
I found the right track.
You say you love me and finally I believe you.

The voice I silence
I take it from its core
I run and sing and play and dance
I'll hear the voice no more.

Thank you for just loving me
No matter what I did
Inside of me I finally see
That little girl - that kid

Cat As Trophy

When my children were young, years ago
My daughter's black cat was her pride and joy
He was used to going wherever he wanted to go
He owned the house and was a pugnacious boy
He ran into a raccoon one night
That was wandering through the yard
This unwelcome trespass led to a fight
And the cat let down his guard
He suffered a nasty bite on the neck
After sewing it up, the vet installed a collar
So that, at the stitches he could not peck
Now unable to defend himself he could only holler
'Do not let him go out', the doctor said
But one night when I was alone
It was late, I was ready for bed
In my boxers, waiting for my wife to come home
When suddenly the door blew open
The cat was gone, as fast as you could please
No time to dress, I followed to my neighbor's bushes grop'en
Under his teenage daughter's window, bent down on my knees
Then a car approached, to my fright
It was his daughter and her boyfriend, Oh glory!
There in my underwear, in the car's headlight
Thank God, the cat had the consideration to stay and back my story

My Faith, Your Faith, Their Faith, Our Faith

Wow! Another great title; I've faith you'll agree,
but we're just on line two now! Whole poem? (We'll see!)
One's faith's truth can't be fact! If it is, then Faith's dead!
And God weeps, for this thought makes Christ toast in Man's head!
I choose faith just by faith, not in wisdom because
who but fool would proclaim 'I've discovered God's laws, '
or he groks ‘Word of God' in some intimate way?
God's Truth's always a gift though Man's 'King for a Day! '

Sure, the Bible may hint at what's true and what's not,
but one note's not symphonic! One chord's much more hot!
Are you God? Where's your hint Evolution is through?
Are two books of the Bible 'Sufficient? ' If true,
might 'Necessity' still have 'Wise Cracks' that need paste? (1)
Just how long's one 'God Day' in 'Man Years' in God's taste?
Friend, it's sick to think your faith's more pleasing to God!
Man's good works sop for braggarts, large peas in small pod!

Is there ‘Christian' alive who dreams brothers in Christ
all are born with a skin that's not colored, that tryst
out of wedlock birthed Savior who died to bring Grace
to creation (and called Man's best plans to save face
sin's 'Good Works! ') Is there something I've missed
to feel more shame about? Sin's dark henchmen, we've kissed
where the sun cannot shine. Yet, Christ's light is what saves
though we're drowning in lies and we drift toward lost graves.

There's no judgment in Christ, as one saved in His Name,
for a Saint is a Saint though looks/acts aren't the same.
So, what role does Faith play then that Christ's words enjoin
us leave pride's works behind? Works are symbols, realm's coin,
of a world we must leave for a heavenly home
that Christ swears will await us (eternal, 'Shalom! ')
If we boast who believe Him, let's die in that sin (2)
and choose life as a servant, have faith that's a win!

(Long Tooth's)
Poet's Notes:
What 'Christian' can have true faith who insists that other's faith is wrong and moreover, that they are serving God by insisting that you agree with them or risk being imprisoned and/or put to death? What a self-serving hypocrisy they exhibit in my opinion! Is that love? Really?
(1) Science seems to offer us a lot of evidence that creation (if not God) finds a lot of pleasure in mathematics. In the more abstract, perhaps, god-like world of mathematics something is considered proven true if the logic presented is demonstrably both 'Necessary and Sufficient! '
(2) Galatians 6: 14 'May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.' To which I pray, 'Amen! '

32 Degrees

Just before the first snow comes,
The lake nearby is overcome
An icy shield is spread around,
Those underneath are safe and sound.

A peaceful silence, so serene
Life still there but now unseen.
All around a blazing white
A wonderful result of the freezing night.

The last bird left a while ago,
Covered are all things that grow.
Gone are all the buzzing bees
Sleeping in 32 degrees.

Agony And Ecstasy Co-Exist.

Just as day comes after
night and the vice-versa,
agony and ecstasy
never co-exist
but follow each other
in the life of an individual.
But in the world cup at Qatar,
like any other tournaments,
one would find the
the simultaneous presence
of both in general(Of course
in different individuals.)

In the display of strength,
stamina, speed, style and skill
of the football teams,
some are good,
some are better.
When ball enters the net
ecstasy and agony rule
the field together.

Star players with team mates,
coach and onlookers jump and
look merrily at the sky.
The loosing teams strike the
ground with intense grief,
sobs and cry,
before saying Qatar
an anguished good bye.
Hope all teams,
next time, would give a better try.

Healthiest Town Ever Found

'I'm seeking somewhere to settle down, '
said the young man who was new in town.
'I am a man of substantial wealth,
and I want a place that's good for my health.'

'Then this is the place, ' said Buster Brown.
'There's no place healthier than this town.
When I arrived here, I could not talk,
and I was so weak, I couldn't walk.
I also had hardly any hair,
and had to be carried everywhere.'

The new man stared and stammered, 'Wow!
You certainly seem quite healthy now! '

'Yes, if I had to leave, I'd really mourn,
because this is the place where I was born! '

He Doesn't Even Have Lips

A duck walked to the town drugstore,
a mission to fulfill.
He liked to pull some little pranks;
they gave him such a thrill.
Ready for some slapstick?
He ordered a Chapstick
and said: 'Just put it on my bill! '

Bri's NOTES (so you can laugh more readily at the poem) :

In this poem, 'Chapstick', a dry-skin preventative applied, like lipstick, to a person's lips.....(or duck's..NO! , ducks do NOT have lips!) ...is purchased by a duck. Then the duck says '..put it on my bill'. 'Bill', besides being a male human's first name, may mean the outer parts of a duck's mouth, OR a record of how much money a person owes for her/his purchase(s) . So, a duck has a bill and a store clerk or bartender or waitress/waiter can list a Chapstick, a beer, or a sandwich (for examples) and its price on a piece of paper, sometimes called a 'bill' or a 'check/cheque', and present it to the customer for payment later. Did I take the humor out of the poem? :) ha ha ha! Bri

Jingle Bells

Instead of bearded Odin riding an eight legged horse
Now we have Santa with eight reindeer of course
In the place of honoring the sun god's death and rebirth
Now we honor the son of God coming to earth
Christmas trees, witch balls, and yule logs you may say
Are all pagan; but none more so, than our own Black Friday

Bri's Note: I'm guessing the title is borrowed from an old song popularly known as 'Jingle Bells', which, according to Wikipedia 'has no original connection to Christmas, [4] it became associated with winter and Christmas music in the 1860s and 1870s'
