Brightening The Corner Where I Walk Poem by Bartholomew Arkoh Boamah Sarbah

Brightening The Corner Where I Walk

Brightening the corner where I walk,
your shadow goes before me
while you watch my vulnerable back
to warn me of impending peril

Brightening the corner where I walk,
your love leads me across gullies
that I never imagined I could cross
til I have

Brightening the corner where I walk,
thoughts of you hover around my worries
until they are shrunk away
to perish with the dieing breeze

Brightening the corner where I walk,
your soothing voice induces me with hope
and urges me on
when I think I should give up

Brightening the corner where I walk,
your presence exudes in me pride
to walk the path of the men
and to fly with the wings of the eagles

Brightening the corner where I walk,
With the liveliness that sprouts from your belly
With the beauty that clothes your shapely form
and the unveiled love that routes from your chest

You are always nearer than I think
with excess oil in your radiant lamp
at my beck and call,
brightening the corner where I walk
