Broken Poem by Tracy Craighead

I can't describe the blow dealt today, I miss him so much.
all taken away so quickly, and for nothing.
They do it with ease, not even slowing to step over me
slithering past and back into their lives
leaving us broken in this heartless divide.
As night creeps in and shadows hover,
I am consumed by fear, racked by tears
The silence is deafening, I feel it near
swallowing me whole.
I am motionless in the dark,
I reach for you…..I am…so very…. alone
