Broken Winged Birds Poem by Claudia Copeland

Broken Winged Birds

Rating: 4.8

Broken winged birds can't fly. Until repaired, they are stuck watching flocks fly overhead. The potential to soar inheritably woven into their genes, but life has a way of altering even its own plans. Whether for game or for purpose, broken winged birds are challenged to navigate this world missing an intricate piece indispensable to its healthy survival. Its difficult to see the beauty of a bird when you are used to looking for them in the sky. Witnesses to this beauteousness requires patience, and the ability to look for it in the most unlikeliness of places. Love has the ability to nurture this bird to take flight. Accommodating for her wing has produced strengths in other areas of her life. For those only interested in beautiful birds with two perfect wings will miss the brilliant colors of her feathers or the story in her song. But for her soulmate, her protector, and her match, her ability to soar even before having the ability to leave the ground will be all they need to realize the sky isn't even high enough to measure how high they can rise.

An insightful piece of poetry, well articulated and nicely brought forth in good diction with conviction. A lovely poem indeed. Thanks for sharing Claudia.
