Can You Imagine Life Without Socks? Poem by Paula Glynn

Can You Imagine Life Without Socks?

Here is the tale of a superstar to tell,
Of a brave woman who did extremely well,
Her musical talent due to grace,
And a reputation that never fell,

She wore party clothes,
Her assets on show,
But her friend had bigger feet,
So she decided not to be neat,
And to wear sneakers and socks,
On her feet.

With a demo tape in hand,
The first recording of her voice,
Musical structure she did always understand,
Her voice ranging from deep,
To high and unique,
She was never from the street,

So her voice melodically performed,
And her confidence stellar,
She would become,
The most famous woman in music,
For her melodies amaze the world,
Now and always, and her grace,
Will never be replaced,

She is a legend,
Her voice to the world,
Speaking volumes about life,
For she is a star in the sky,
And with the lord she does fly,

She sings every note harmonically,
Every high and low note met,
And her long running musical career,
She celebrates and has no regret,

As she remembers those sneakers and socks,
Her demo tape making her rock,
She has spunk, originality,
Her style never repeating itself,
Climbing the charts with every album,
And every stage lights up with her name,
For Mariah Carey has found the glory in fame.
