Changed. Poem by Elle Jay E..

Changed.

Cowboy boots for christmas
New shoes for birthdays.
You could never afford
anything anymore
before you went home today
Your mother took you back like she should
forgot about your mistakes
the street kid name
and all that fame
is forgotten in the shade
Remember when we used to know you?
Your sad smile and baggy pants?
Remember when I used to own you
at the basketball stance
Remember when you were one of us
we were your family
remember when we would talk and talk
about the city and our dreams
but it doesnt exist anymore
its just a faded memory
you used to have those old clothes
that was all you had
you used to be one of us
still missing your dad
youre not a drug dealer
youre not a cowboy blue
youre not anyone else
youll always be you
but you act like it wasnt us that held you
when you needed a friend the most
you acted like it wasnt us that helped you
when you had no where else to go
dont turn away from your true friends
is all I have to say.
Dont turn away from who you really are.
Go be you today.
